Bromley - Light after Dark

Clare is currently producing - Bromley - Light After Dark - which having a theatrical release in November 2023.

David Bromley found that art appeased the voices in his head and helped him find beauty in the world. So he made the life-changing decision to commit his whole being to something meaningful.

The feature length documentary takes us into the world of this prominent Australian artist. With intimate access, we peel away the layers of anxiety, phobias and suicide survival, whilst embracing the humour, energy, and love that is ever-present in the Bromley world. David’s journey is not complete without his wife Yuge and it’s through this powerful partnership that we witness firsthand the fragility of David’s world and state of mind. As the Bromley’s live their authentic lives, interviews with friends, critics and musicians add perspectives and insight on creative process, mental health, and commercialisation of art.

Ultimately Light after Dark is a love story for the ages and a rousing exploration of life and creativity. As David himself says, “art saved my life”. But that’s just the beginning of this story…

Uncharted Waters

In 2013 Clare was the Director of Photography on Uncharted Waters; a feature-length documentary about Australian surfing legend, Wayne Lynch. It traces his upbringing in the seaside town of Lorne on Victoria's South-Western coast and his turbulent experiences as a 'conscientious objector' on the run from conscription and the Vietnam war. Ultimately it is about an extremely gifted individual with an intense connection to the Southern Ocean, whose approach to surfing has been a spiritual journey, often putting him at odds with the surfing sub-culture and society in general.

First Love

In 2010 Clare produced First Love, a feature documentary about love, friendship and following your dreams.

This feature length film follows the lives of three passionate young girls from Phillip Island and documents their trip to Hawaii – the first step on their journey to making a career out of surfing.

17-year-old Jess Laing has grown up surfing with, and competing against, her two friends Nikki van Dijk and India Payne. They’re all sponsored, surf the same breaks and live within 10 minutes of each other. The girls are all different in their own ways, but one thing’s for sure, they all love the same thing.

But when Jess is injured everything changes. Her trip to Hawaii is replaced with surgery, recovery and rehab.  It’s only her love of surfing that pulls her through.

Discover the trials and tribulations of training, competitions and injury whilst gaining an insight into life on the tour through the eyes of three girls.  With magic footage and stellar photography, First Love will surprise, entertain and inspire a generation of female surfers.
